tunaThe owners of Wicked Tuna on Murrells Inlet took what was once a gift shop with a small restaurant, attached to Crazy Sister Marina, gutted it and the menu, and created a wonderland both in decor and food offerings.

Most come for the sushi — both nigiri and sashimi, but they put modern twists on dishes from the ocean and the land. Sit at the sushi bar or a table if sushi is your choice for an entrée, or start off with one of the restaurant’s signature rolls and choose from a full menu of seafood and steaks.

tuna2The starters’ menu is chock full of options that would delight anyone — everything from beef carpaccio to fried pickles or white corn guacamole. My favorite is the rock shrimp. It’s tempura fried in a spicy mayo that goes down easy.

After that, you can go in many directions.  The menu features a surf and turf section as well as a surf only or turf only section.  The menu is nothing but abundant. The steaks are cooked to order, and the fish is all local.

Salad options are plentiful including a kale and apple salad, wedge or ginger salad.  Perfect for vegetarians and vegans, the salads are meals unto themselves. The same menu is offered for lunch and dinner. For diners with allergies or sensitivities, there’s a limited gluten-free menu, but other offerings are clearly marked

You can pair your meals with a craft beer — a number are on tap — or full cocktail service.

The dessert menu is based on what is made that day but I promise you they are nothing short of extravagant, so try to save some room.

Wicked Tuna is a great place for an awesome meal and an awesome time out!
